John Nash McIntosh (1783-1843) was born near Savannah, Georgia, the son of General John and Sarah Swinton McIntosh. According to the family Bible, his full name was John Hugh Nash McIntosh. He was appointed at Darien as captain in the 4th U.S. Infantry in 1808; he served in the War of 1812. When he resigned from the army in 1920, John was a Major in the 8th U.S. Infantry.
